Training organisation Part 147


In July 2013 ISAERS has been approved as EASA Part 147 training and examination organisation (ref.  IT.147.0014).  The basic courses approved are for the AML Cat. B3, a licence category introduced under EC Regulation 1149/2011, with training on ‘piston-engine non-pressurised aeroplanes of 2000 kg MTOM and below’.

In a few weeks, ISAERS will obtain the approval for Cat. B1.1 (turbine engine aeroplanes).

Basic courses
Basic courses are aimed at people who would like to take up a specialist career in the aviation sector as a maintenance mechanic or technician without necessarily having any previous experience in that field.

Access to the course
In order to access the course you need a high-school leaving diploma and a good knowledge of the English language because most of the text books and manuals are in English.

Cat. B3 training course structure

The Cat. B3 training course consists of 1,000 hours with
- 560 hours of theoryg
- 440 hours of practical training
The theoretical training is made up of the following modules
·  Mathematics
·  Physics
·  Electrical fundamentals
·  Electronic fundamentals 
·  Digital techniques electronic instrument systems 
·  Materials and hardware
·  Maintenance practices
·  Basic aerodynamics
·  Human factors
·  Aviation legislation
·  piston aeroplane aerodynamics, structures and systems
·  Piston engine
·  Propeller 

A test has to be passed at the end of every theory module. At the end of the practical training a qualifying test has to be passed.

Documents issued at the end the course
At the successful completion of all the exams and tests, a Certificate of Recognition is issued which is accepted in every EASA member country.

The instructors
The theory instructors are mainly lecturers from the University of Bologna Department of Engineering who teach on the degree courses in aerospace and mechanical engineering. The practical instructors are professionals and mechanics with the AML (Aircraft Maintenance Licence).

Where the training takes place
The theory training takes place in Forlì in the classrooms of the high school Istituto Tecnico Aeronautico Statale F. Baracca di Forlì.
The practical training takes place in both the university laboratories in the ex-Feruzzi hangar located at Forlì airport and also at a Part 145-certified maintenance workshop at Forlì airport.

Course duration
The course takes approximately 9 months full-time.
